UT involves sending high-frequency sound waves through the pipe’s outside wall and rebounding it off the inside wall. The sound wave’s path is meticulously measured, and the data is utilized to determine the pipe’s wall thickness. In pipe inspection, knowing the wall thickness is useful since it allows the examiner to spot deterioration and flaws.
Hydrostatic analysis is one of the most frequent pipe testing methods. This test is used to detect breaches and pressure-test vessels that will be used to store liquids and gases. It works by filling a fluid in the pipe and then pressurizing it to a certain degree.
Charpy Impact Testing:
The Charpy impact test is used to determine the strength of a material. Its benefits include ease of use and low cost, but some of the outcomes are evaluative, which means they must be compared to one another. A weighted pendulum is swung from a fixed height onto the object to be evaluated. The collision’s consequences are next examined. The Charpy test is especially effective for measuring toughness or flexibility.
